Digital Press Creation
Colorful, unique painted resources for designers and artists
About Molly Van Roekel
I was born in Des Moines, Iowa during a flood. My father claims that even as a newborn he would sometimes see me laying in my crib tracing the cracks in the ceiling. He says that was the first time he knew I would become an artist.
Several ruined carpets, crayoned walls, and hundreds of sketchbooks later, I am a professional artist.
I went to college at Memphis College of Art and I have my BFA in Painting. I consider myself both a fine artist and a commercial artist. The fine art is what comes out when I am not thinking too hard about it- I get inspiration and I go for it.
I now live in Fayetteville, Arkansas with two cats. When I'm not painting, I'm riding my bike through the lush trails there, reading a book, or binge watching Netflix. I just turned 23 in February.
About Digital Press Creation
Digital Press Creation was something that I have been working on since I was 11. It all started with a free photoshop brush set that I uploaded onto the website Deviantart. It has been downloaded over 300,000 times.
Fast forward to 2013. I was working on my BFA in art school, and exemplifying the stereotype of the starving artist. I had a breakthrough moment because of that brush set. What if I could create great resources for people who love to design, and make a living from it too?
In the beginning, that just meant paying for the occasional cafeteria run. However, since then my business has grown and become my day job.
All my clip art is 300dpi, and I am constantly striving to improve what I offer, by making it cleaner, larger and more colorful. What I choose to paint for my sets is typically reflective of what I see around me. It has to be in the sweet spot of inspiring to me, beautiful to see and useful for other people.
Let's be friends!
Digital Press Creation is the lovechild of my passion for art and technology. I strive to create the most beautiful and useful artwork for designers and artists. My work has been seen in the storefronts of small businesses around the globe. I consider every design a collaboration in the making!
